Such a question has a clear answer for many people in the world. Experiencing violence, disease and famine, or suffering the effects of natural disasters, life itself often hangs by a slender thread.
And while worries about the past don't change anything, worrying about current problems or future prospects is only natural when life is so hard.
Even those with comparatively safe and secure places to live often worry about the plight of less fortunate people and feel they cannot do enough to help. This world's problems, whether man-made or caused by nature, seem impossible to solve. No wonder many people worry!
Reminding ourselves of things to worry about may seem an unnecessary task. After all, who can ignore all the terrible news hitting the headlines daily, coming from all corners of the world. But perhaps there is some comfort if we know that such things will not go on for ever.
The Bible has long predicted trouble and strife throughout the world:
"...upon the earth distress of nations, with perplexity; the sea and the waves roaring; men's hearts failing them for fear, and for looking after those things which are coming on the earth"
(Luke 21v25-26)
But it then goes on to say...
"And then shall they see the Son of man (Jesus Christ) coming in a cloud with power and great glory" (Luke 21v27)
And when Jesus comes it will be his task to rid this world of trouble and strife...for good!!
So, whatever the conditions of our lives now, good or bad, we do need to worry if we are not part of God's plan for this world's better future!
