Many people enjoy learning something new. Which is why 'evening classes' and 'vacation courses' are so popular.
And taking a course about something that interests you makes learning about it much more fun, whether it's for a new career or just for a hobby.
Even though learning about the Bible needs to be taken seriously, it doesn't have to be boring or hard work. The secret is to take it in stages.
Like any subject worth learning, if you are fairly new to the Bible taking a few lessons will always help. With so much to learn, picking up knowledge about the Bible and what it teaches is best done bit-by-bit.
It's also helpful to have time to reflect on new facts and ideas that you learn as you go along. Then, if questions come to mind, having somebody to ask may be just what you need.
But don't try to do it all at once...take your time.
Choose what's best for you. The hardest bit is getting started!
Instead of a set of lessons that you work through one-by-one, you might prefer to read this book. It contains the seminar presentations given to an audience of Bible students in 2004. You can download a copy of the book for yourself (pdf format).
This may be the best place to start. The course does not assume you know anything at all about the Bible. But in 12 short steps it takes you through 'the basics'. At the end of each lesson are some questions, so you can test yourself to check what you have learnt. (The answers are provided too!!)
>> Start or Continue the Course
If you wish you can skip the Basic Course and start your study of the Bible here. Covering both basic and more advanced Bible topics, this course is ideal if you want a bit of help and encouragement studying the Bible. As with the Introductory Course, at the end of each lesson
there are some questions for you to answer and you can send off your answers to be 'marked'!
